Art Basel Miami Beach

Little Sun, the solar lamp and global project, was presented by the Fondation Beyeler at Art Basel Miami Beach from 5–8 December 2013. The Fondation Beyeler’s entire booth at the art fair was devoted to Little Sun. The lamps were sold from a local food truck parked inside the booth, in a fun nod to Floridian street food culture. A second truck traveled around to art fair events in Miami selling Little Suns as well as drinks.

In addition, at the Initiative of the Fondation Beyeler, an Artist Talk with Olafur Eliasson and Klaus Biesenbach (Director of MoMA PS1 and Chief Curator at Large of MoMA NY) was held from 3:00–4:00 p.m. on Thursday, 5 December as part of the Salon 2013 series at Art Basel Miami Beach.

The presentation of Little Sun both at the art fair and on Miami’s city streets aimed to break down the boundaries between life and art and between interior and exterior spaces, giving Miami residents and visitors the chance to experience Little Sun and consider our shared natural resources.

To coincide with Art Basel Miami Beach, YoungArts and MoMA PS1 presented an inaugural project featuring Little Sun at the YoungArts Gallery designed by Frank Gehry. The project installed a special Little Sun kiosk in the space and the Little Sun Films series was shown.
