We are pleased to announce that Little Sun Diamond has won its first award: THE DESIGN PRIZE 2017, in the ‘Experimentation’ category.
2017 marks the inaugural year of THE DESIGN PRIZE. Initiated by designboom and abitare magazine, the Prize occured during Design Week in Milan, Italy, in the midst of the most exciting time on the design calendar.
The Prize takes on an unusual format by recognising design culture ‘from within’: the organisers ask a worldwide committee of designers, journalists, curators, critics, lecturers, scholars and institutional figures, to nominate:
“Both the extraordinary achievements and little sparks of beauty and delight that have emerged over the past 12 months in the world of design”.
Little Sun is excited to have won the Experimentation Prize for our “little spark of beauty“, Little Sun Diamond, and we congratulate the winners in the other categories of the 2017 Prize. Olafur expressed his delight about the Prize in this acceptance speech.
The DESIGN PRIZE organisers state:
“This (…) project highlights how ‘energy’ can change the way people live their lives, with a focus on education.”
