Frederik Ottesen is an experienced entrepreneur with a background in mechanical engineering and economics. A strong believer in sustainable technologies, Ottesen works closely alongside Solar Flight’s engineers and aviators in realising the company’s new projects, such as the world’s first passenger-carrying solar-powered airplane – now flying – and a larger solar-powered utility aircraft currently in development. He is the former CEO of Matriks A/S, a software company he started in 1998. Ottesen’s passion for adventure took him on a two-year circumnavigation of the globe. Upon returning, he was invited to be part of the maritime safety think tank run by the Danish Maritime Institute.
