At 5,895 meters, Uhuru Peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, is the highest natural elevation point in all of Africa. And Little Sun has now made it all the way there!
Michael Schlawitz, an IT specialist by trade, now spends his time in Tanzania dedicated to spreading solar light, among his other projects. He shares with us his journey to reach the summit:
I took a little trip to Kilimanjaro and of course, I brought a lot of Little Suns! My hiking mates and guide each got one and we used them every night in the tent; here in Tanzania it gets dark around 18:30 all year round. The lamps were particularly useful on our last night when we started at hiking at 24:00 for our last stretch to Uhuru Peak — the Little Sun was very useful when we walked in the dark!
After the trip, I gave each porter a Little Sun — they were very pleased. In fact, I saw a porter from another group with a Little Sun hanging from his backpack!
Stay tuned to find out what other adventures are in store for Little Sun…
