Music Lights Up Life! Mr Eazi Donates Little Suns in Nigeria

Mr. Eazi, Afrobeats sensation, donates Little Suns & brings back the music to the Boko Haram ravaged city of Maiduguri, Nigeria.

Since their violent resurgence in 2009, Boko Haram have spread destruction and fear across North- East Nigeria. The militant group have killed an estimated 20,000 people, kidnapped 276 Chibok schoolgirls and uprooted over 2 million Nigerians from their homes. A large proportion of the Nigerian IDPs fled constant terror attacks and war zones, and now live in makeshift camps around Maiduguri.

A huge, concerted Nigerian army campaign has succeeded in suppressing Boko Haram, allowing for a degree of normality to return to North- East Nigeria. One shining indicator of hope for this area, and the thousands of young people living in the IDP camps, is that music, nightlife and enjoyment are beginning to return. Thanks to performers like Mr. Eazi, young people can now hear the light in the darkness, as they enjoy his concerts in the curfew restricted Maiduguri.

Mr. Eazi is going beyond the music, by bringing Little Suns to thousands of people in IDP camps. He aims to donate 10,000 solar lamps by January 2017 through generously dedicating a proportion of all profits from his gigs to the solar power cause. As a longer term goal, Mr. Eazi wants to commence a second phase of donations whereby 100,000 children from displaced and off- grid communities are given a Little Sun to aid their education. Mr. Eazi is a great energy that is igniting music, hope and light across Nigeria, and we are really grateful that he has chosen to support Little Sun to achieve his ambition.
