Little Sun 2024 | A Year in Pictures
Twelve years ago, Little Sun began as an idea – a celebration of light,
energy, and togetherness. Today, and thanks to you, that idea has
grown into a global movement, spreading solar love and creating
real change. Together with you, our partners, supporters, and friends,
we’ve reached incredible milestones:
- Established our first solar-powered Community Energy Hub,
providing income to about 38 farmers - Empowered 4.8 million people with improved energy access
- Avoided 1.2 million tons of CO2 emissions
- Provided over 205 million extra study hours for children
- Saved $203 million on energy costs
Thank you! In 2024 we opened our first Community Energy Hub in
Zambia and since April, we handled milk there daily. We are in the
process of establishing the next Hubs, and continue to build our team
in Zambia, at HQ in Lusaka and in Chibombo. Little Sun Zambia is
becoming a force!
In 2024 we delivered solar lamps and chargers in Ethiopia, South
Africa, Tanzania, and with partners in additional countries. Our
programs and partners were, as always, highly efficient in sharing
solar energy with individuals, in holding hands with the sun.
As we celebrate these accomplishments, we are also looking forward.
Over the years, we’ve created the symbolic and impactful Little Sun
Original and launched innovative products like the Little Sun Charge and Little Sun Diamond, supported entrepreneurship, and expanded access to solar energy.
Since 2023 we have been in a transition, and after much thought, we have decided to end the production and sales of Little Sun lamps at the end of 2024. This decision wasn’t easy, but it allows us to focus fully on our Community Energy Hubs and the community impact solar energy can have there.
We shared this news with partners, distributors, and friends in the past months – and the feedback was overwhelming. So many stories of Little Sun lamps’ impact, of the hope and agency that solar lamps can bring.
Thank you. It does not make saying goodbye to the lamps any easier, but it makes us happy.
