Doug Baillie was born in Zimbabwe and graduated from the University of Natal in South Africa with majors in Business Finance, Marketing and Business Administration. He started his career with Unilever in 1978 in South Africa. His career with Unilever has seen him taking various sales and marketing appointments and serving in a number of leadership roles around the world. He served on the Executive Board (ULE) having first been appointed in 2008 as President of Western Europe. Doug retired as Chief Human Resources Officer of Unilever in 2016. In his life after Unilever, Doug is the Vice Chairman of the MasterCard Foundation, a Trustee for the Leverhulme Trust, a Non-Executive Director of Huhtamaki, a global Foods and Drink packaging company and a Non-Executive Director of Airtel Africa which is listed on the LSE. In addition, he continues to work with Unilever in developing future African leaders.
Doug is married with four children and lives between Twickenham, United Kingdom and Durban, South Africa. He is a part-time marathon runner and enjoys playing and watching all sports.
